BATTERED FRIED MUSHROOMS 
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
Dash of garlic powder
1 c. cold water
2 tbsp. melted Crisco
1 egg, slightly beaten
2 c. sliced fresh mushrooms

Combine flour, cheese, salt, and garlic powder. Stir in water, Crisco, and egg; beat until smooth. Pat mushrooms dry. Dip into batter. Fry few at a time in deep oil heated to 365 degrees until golden (about 3 minutes). Drain on paper towels. Lightly salt. Serve. Sour cream is a good dip for these.
