ORIGINAL CONEY ISLAND SAUCE | |
1 tbsp. butter 1 tbsp. butter 1/2 lb. lean ground beef 2 tbsp. chili powder 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste 2 med. onions, chopped 1 clove garlic, crushed Dash of salt & pepper 1 tbsp. mustard 1 (6 oz.) can water 4-5 weiners (without skins) ground up Do not brown the beef before using. Combine everything but weiners and simmer over low heat until thick. Grind the weiners and add to the sauce. Cook 15 minutes longer. Can add a few crumbled soda crackers to thicken the sauce but it's not part of the original recipe. |
