OATMEAL CAKE 
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. oatmeal
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/3 c. boiling water

TOPPING:

6 tbsp. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. evaporated milk
1 c. coconut
1 c. pecans
2 tbsp. Karo syrup

Cream sugars and shortening. Add oatmeal and eggs. Sift together flour, soda and cinnamon. Add to mixture alternately with water. Bake at 370 degrees for 35 minutes.

Boil ingredients for topping for 1 1/2 minutes. Pour over cake and put under broiler until brown.
