POLLY'S FRUIT CAKE 
3/4 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 lb. dates (pitted/whole)
1 c. maraschino cherries, red and green
3 c. whole walnuts
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Mix nuts, cherries and dates. Sift in flour mixture to coat nuts, dates and cherries. Beat eggs and vanilla, add to rest of ingredients. Bake in moderate oven (300 degrees) for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Make sure everything is coated before pouring into pan.
