“SOFT GINGER COOKIES” IS IN:
NEXT RECIPE:  SOFT MOLASSES COOKIES

SOFT GINGER COOKIES 
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter or shortening
3 eggs (beaten)
1 cup molasses
1 cup hot water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
2 tsp. ground ginger
flour enough to make a soft dough

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Cream shortening and add sugar gradually. Add eggs, molasses and hot water to which the soda has been added.

Sift together 2 cups flour and the spices, add enough more flour to make a soft dough. Wrap in wax paper or plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Roll out and bake on ungreased baking sheet for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown on outer edges.

Frost with confectioners icing or boiled frosting if desired.
