DUMPLINGS FOR ANY SOUP | |
3/4 c. sweet milk 1/4 c. milk 1 tbsp. flour 2 tbsp. butter 1 egg 1/2 tsp. salt Heat 3/4 cup sweet milk in remaining 1/4 cup milk. Add a heaping tablespoon of flour. Add to heated milk, stirring constantly until it thickens. Remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons butter. Stir in well. When completely cool, add 1 egg, 1/2 teaspoon salt, beat well. Then stir in enough flour to make a thick batter. Drop by the spoonful into slowly boiling soup and cook about 15 minutes. (I always double this.) |
