BAVARIAN APPLE TORTE 
1/2 c. butter, at room temperature
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Cream these 3 ingredients together. Blend in 1 cup flour. Spread this dough on the bottom and sides of springform pan.

Combine two (8 oz.) packages cream cheese and 1/2 cup sugar and blend. Mix in 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Pour into pastry-lined pan. Then 4 cups apples sliced and tossed with sugar and cinnamon to taste. Spoon apple mixture over cream cheese layer. Sprinkle with almonds and bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes.

Reduce heat to 400 degrees and bake 25 minutes more or until golden brown. Let cool and refrigerate until ready to serve. Enjoy.
