GERMAN SLAW 
1 heavy cabbage, grated fine
1 jar pimento
1 sm. carrot, grated (optional)
1 c. white vinegar
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. celery seed
1 onion, finely chopped
1 bell pepper, finely chopped
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. dry mustard (optional)
1/2 c. corn oil

Mix together in a medium size bowl the cabbage, onion, pimento, bell pepper, and carrot. Sprinkle sugar over the vegetable mixture. Set aside. In a small saucepan, mix together the vinegar, pepper, salt, dry mustard, celery seed, and corn oil. Heat mixture until it comes to a boil, stirring constantly. Pour over the vegetable mixture. Chill 24 hours.
