3/4 c. sugar 4 eggs 1 (15 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk 1 c. water 1 tsp. vanilla Start oven at 350 degrees. Put sugar in heavy skillet over low heat stirring constantly with a wooden spoon until sugar melts and turns golden. Pour into a 1-quart casserole dish. with wooden spoon, spread sugar around casserole to coat bottom and sides evenly. Let cool while preparing custard. Beat eggs; add milk, water and vanilla. Pour into casserole. Place casserole in a pan containing 1 inch hot water. Bake 1 hour or until knife inserted 1/2 inch into center comes out clean. Run spatula around edge of flan and turn out onto serving dish. Chill before serving. Makes 6 or 8 servings. |
