1 (3-4 lb.) eye round roast
Salt
Pepper
Garlic powder
Crushed basil

Rub roast well with seasonings and let stand at room temperature for 1 hour. Place in roasting pan and roast for 1 hour at 375 degrees. Turn off oven until 30 minutes before serving. Turn oven back to 375 degrees for an additional 30 to 40 minutes. IMPORTANT: Do not open oven door from the time you put the roast in until you are ready to serve it. This roast will be beautifully brown on the outside and rare on the inside.
