CHERRY COCONUT BALLS 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. Crisco
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped maraschino cherries
1/2 c. coconut
1/2 c. nuts
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
Cherry juice

Cream shortenings and sugar. Blend in egg and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Add cherries, coconut and nuts. Drop onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. When cool, spread with powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice, blended well. Top each with cherry half if you want.
