BAKLAVA 
1 lb. butter
1 lb. chopped walnuts
1 lb. Strudel leaves (Filo)

Melt butter. Place one sheet of pastry in 11"x17" buttered pan. Spread each layer with melted butter. After the sixth layer, spread on the nuts. Add rest of layers, buttering between each (or every other) layer. When finished, cut into diagonal sections to form diamonds. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Drain off excess butter. Cool Baklava, then pour over it syrup made of cooked: 1 1/4 c. water Lemon juice to taste

Cook syrup until it strings. Cover and set for 30 minutes. Serve cold.
