S.'S HOT HOECAKE CORNBREAD 
1 1/2 c. self-rising cornmeal
1/2 c. self-rising flour
2 eggs
3/4 c. oil or soft butter
1/2 c. chopped fine green pepper
1/2 tsp. jalapeno pepper, if ground
1 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
1 c. cream style corn
1 med. onion, chopped
1 c. buttermilk

Best cooked in shortening greased cast iron skillet. Mix all ingredients and pour into pan. Cook in 375 degree oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until golden brown.
