GERMAN SWEET CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1 pkg. German sweet chocolate
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 egg yolks, beaten
Pinch of salt
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. boiling water
4 egg whites

Melt chocolate in the boiling water. Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add beaten egg yolks. Sift dry ingredients together and add along with buttermilk, vanilla, and beaten egg whites. Bake in 3 layers at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

FILLING:

1 lg. can evaporated milk
3 egg yolks
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. flour
1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 c. coconut

Mix and cook milk, sugar, flour, salt, butter, egg yolks over low heat until thick, 10-12 minutes. Remove from heat; add coconut, vanilla, and chopped nuts. Mix well and spread on cake.
