PRUNE SPICE CAKE 
Sift together:

2 c. (sifted) all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. allspice

Put in bowl of mixer:

1/2 c. (8 tbsp.) shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs, unbeaten

Beat well for two minutes. Add:

1 c. cooked prunes, pitted and drained

Add flour mixture alternately with 1 cup of buttermilk. Beat enough to blend. Pour into greased pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Cool; then ice with:

2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. sour cream
1 c. chopped prunes

Cook until thickened. Ice and cover cake with mixture.
