RHODE ISLAND JOHNNYCAKES 
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
1 c. white cornmeal
Boiling water

Combine dry ingredients in a bowl. Pour enough boiling water over ingredients to make stiff dough. Beat thoroughly and let stand a few minutes to thicken. Thin dough with water or milk to a consistency that will drop off the end of a spoon. Drop onto greased hot griddle by tablespoon. Cook slowly about 5 minutes on each side.
