AUNT EDYTHE'S MANHATTAN CLAM
CHOWDER
 
1 (15 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
1 (6 oz.) can minced clams (I use 2 cans)
6 lg. stalks celery
2 lg. onions
2 diced potatoes
2 1/2 tsp. thyme
4 slices lean fried bacon

With exception of potatoes, cover the above until covered with water and cook for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Then dice and add potatoes about 20 minutes before serving.
