1/2 c. corn starch 3 c. cold water 1/2 c. soap flakes 1/4 oz. unflavored gelatin Mix the cornstarch into 3/4 cup of the water in a medium sized pan. Meanwhile, soak the gelatin in 1/4 cup of the cold water. Add the remaining 2 cups of water to the cornstarch mixture and bring to a slow boil, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat and stir in the softened gelatin. Add the soap flakes and continue to stir until the soap is thoroughly dissolved. Pour the mixture into 5 or 6 small, lidded jars and mix 1 teaspoonful of a different colored food coloring into each jar. If you would like white paint use precipitated chalk or whiting for pigment. 1 teaspoon of household dye may be used it is less expensive and colors stronger but food coloring is safer. |
