BAKING POWDER BISCUITS | |
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted 1 tbsp. baking powder 2 tsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 c. softened butter 3/4 c. milk Measure flour and sift all the dry ingredients together. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Form a wet dough with the milk. Knead 8 or 10 times. With a floured hand, pat dough out to a 1/2-inch thickness. Cut out biscuits with a floured biscuit cutter. Pat out scraps and cut again until all dough is used and refrigerate biscuits for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 450°F. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden. |
