POPPY SEED CAKE | |
1/4 c. shortening 2 1/4 c. cake flour 2 1/4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/4 c. sugar 1 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. poppy seed 3 egg whites Cream shortening; add sugar. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Add vanilla; beat 2 minutes. Add poppy seed and mix well. Fold in beaten egg whites. Pour into 2 greased and lined 8 inch layer cake pans. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. |
