MOTHER LEVINE'S MUSHROOM ROLL - UPS | |
1 lg. long loaf of sandwich-shaped thin sliced bread, remove crusts 3 lg. onions, sliced thin 1 can chopped mushrooms 1/2 lb. cream cheese, softened 2 to 3 sticks butter, melted Saute onions and mushrooms until very soft; cool. Add to cream cheese and mix well. Roll bread slices until very thin and compressed, and spread thinly with onion-mushroom mixture. Roll up like a jelly roll (tightly, this takes some practice). Cut into 3 pieces and dip into melted butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes, turning halfway through. This can be made in advance, stored on waxed paper and refrigerated or frozen. Thaw before baking, if frozen. |
