GRANDMA'S SOFT MOLASSES COOKIES 
1 c. hot water
3 tsp. baking soda
1 c. dark molasses
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. lard
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 beaten eggs
1/4 tsp. allspice
6 c. flour
1 tsp. ginger

Boil water, molasses, lard and sugar together; let cool and add remaining ingredients. Chill overnight in the refrigerator. Roll (not too thin) and bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Sprinkle lightly with sugar.
