1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
1 c. warm water
5 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Cream together shortening, sugar, molasses and water. Sift together flour and spices. Add to sugar mixture and beat until smooth. Chill at least 1 hour or longer. Roll and cut. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes.
