YOGURT CAKE 
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
6 eggs, separated and well beaten
1 c. almonds or walnuts, ground
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. yogurt (clabber)
2 tsp. baking soda diluted with 2 oz. cognac
1 tsp. baking powder
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cloves

Beat butter and sugar. Add egg yolks and continue beating. Add nuts, yogurt, soda and cognac, baking powder, flour, cinnamon, cloves and mix well. Last, fold in beaten egg whites. Pour in pan which has been greased and floured. Bake in 375 degree oven for about 1 hour.

When cool, top with syrup made from 3 cups sugar, 2 cups water, 1/2 cup Karo syrup. Boil about 5-10 minutes. Pour over cake while syrup is hot.
