CORN MEAL MUFFINS 
1 c. corn meal
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sweet milk
2 tbsp. shortening
1 c. flour
4 tbsp. baking powder
1 egg

Sift together meal, salt, flour and baking powder. Add milk gradually, then add shortening and well-beaten egg. Bake in well-greased muffin pan in a hot oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
