OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tbsp. vanilla
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. quick cooking oats
1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips (or raisins, or both)

Cream butter, shortening and sugars; add eggs and vanilla and beat well. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Blend in slowly and mix well. Add remaining ingredients and blend thoroughly.

Separate into four parts. Roll in waxed paper and chill for several hours. Slice and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10-12 minutes or until light brown.
