2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 2/3 c. shortening 2 egg yolks 1 tbsp. lemon juice 1/4 c. cold water 1 c. sugar 2 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 4 to 6 cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced 1 c. confectioners' sugar 2 tbsp. milk 2 tbsp. butter 1/2 tsp. vanilla Sift flour and salt. Cut in shortening as for pie crust. Mix egg yolks, lemon juice and water. Blend in flour mixture. Divide in two parts. Roll first to fit bottom and sides of 9 x 13 inch pan. Arrange sliced apples in crust lined pan. Sprinkle over the mixture of sugar, flour and cinnamon. Roll remaining dough to fit top. Arrange over filling. Seal edges. Cut vents to steam. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 or 40 minutes. While still warm frost top. |
