Baked French Toast

A keeper! Took a risk on this new recipe with company coming and me not wanting to slave over a hot stove by pan-frying only 2 at a time, my usual. I took advice of thers to sprinkle a bit of sugar and some more cinnamon on top. Baked for 25 minutes. Easy and perfect! Served with bacon(nitite, antibiotic, hormone free...GO APPLEGATE!!!!), and mixed fruits and berries for a salad, with honey on the side. YUM!

This recipe was easy and absolutely delicious. I tried it as a bread pudding also, and it was great. To do this, I cubed my bread (I used about 10 slices of Texas toast) instead of dipping it whole, and put the cubes in the baking dish on top of the cinnamon-sugar mixture. I had to double the amount of milk and eggs to make sure everything got soaked and poured this mixture over the bread. I let it soak in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes. As others suggested, I used more cinnamon and sugar to layer on the top and added a touch of pumpkin pie spice. Cooked at the suggested temperature for about 20 minutes. It was the best bread pudding I've ever made.

I also tried this recipe once without the layer of cinnamon and sugar on the bottom, and it wasn't anywhere near as good; way too eggy.

Thanks for the great recipe!

Great flavor and an easy recipe. Since I didn't have pumpkin pie spice readily available, I just mixed ginger, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. I also used King's Hawaiian bread. My hubby loved it! It basically caramelized and took more like 20 min.

This is excellent but the same as some of the other people that rated this recipe, it took 20 minutes in my oven to bake. I also used cinnamon-raisin bread for my french toast. I also sprinkled cinnamon-sugar on top as well.

I also had to bake for 20 min.. but I layered the bread with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on between each layer. We then cut into squares and served. It was awesome this way.. got about 15 slices of regular wheat bread in the pan.. family loved it, will do it again!!

Really good! I used Texas toast and it took about 20 minutes. I also sprinkled some cinnamon sugar on the top. I've tried other recipes and I dislike mushy french toast, this recipe was perfect!

This was super yummy!! It took about 20 minutes. I did change it up a little. I added 1-2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice along with the cinnamon and next time I will definitely sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on the top before baking as well. My kids LOVED these :)
