SOFT PRETZELS 
1 pkg. yeast
1 1/2 c. lukewarm water
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
4 c. flour
1 egg
Coarse salt

Soften yeast in water. Add salt and sugar. Add flour. Mix and knead into a smooth dough. DO NOT LET RISE. Roll a handful of dough into an 8" to 10" length rope and shape into a pretzel. Place each shaped pretzel on a floured cookie sheet a few inches apart. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with salt. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. This is a wonderful activity for children on a snowy day waiting for their clothes to dry.
