OLD FASHIONED FUDGE | |
2 c. sugar 1 c. milk 1/2 tsp. salt 8 tbsp. cocoa 2 tbsp. white corn syrup 2 tbsp. butter 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped walnuts (optional) Combine sugar, salt, milk, corn syrup and cocoa in saucepan. Cook and stir over low heat until sugar dissolves. Cook slowly to soft ball stage (238 degrees). Stir frequently. Remove from heat. Add butter; cool mixture to 110 degrees, or lukewarm. Beat in vanilla and walnuts on high speed of electric mixer for 3 minutes or until mixture is no longer shiny. Pour into a buttered 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Cool. Cut in squares. Makes 4 dozen pieces. |
