BRAN MUFFINS 
2 c. Kelloggs All-Bran
1 c. Nabisco 100% Bran
1 c. boiling water
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. dates, chopped (optional)
1 c. raisins (optional)

Pour boiling water over bran and let soak. Cream together shortening sugar; add eggs to creamed mixture. Add buttermilk; mix well. Add flour and soda, then add bran mixture; stir. Store in refrigerator up to six weeks; fruit may be added at the time of baking.

Bake in muffins pans at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
