Make your child's favorite cake mix according to the package directions. Place 18 cones in muffin tins and fill them half full with cake mix. Cook the Cone Cakes at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes, until the cake mix begins to pull away from the sides of the cones. Frost and decorate the cones.

The cake will probably rise to a point just below the lip of the cone, so you'll be able to keep the frosting below the lip of the cone, which makes these Cone Cakes easier than conventional cupcakes to pack in a lunch box.
