EGG BATTER BUNS | |
1 c. warm water 1 pkg. dry yeast 2 tbsp. sugar 2 1/4 c. flour, sift 3 times (very important) 1 tsp. salt 1 egg 2 tbsp. butter or shortening Sprinkle yeast onto warm water in large warm bowl. Stir until dissolved. Stir in sugar, half the flour and salt. Beat with a large spoon until smooth. Add egg and melted shortening to mixture. Beat in remainder of flour until smooth. Scrape down sides of bowl, cover and let rise in warm place, until double in bulk, about 30-40 minutes. Stir down dough. Spoon into large greased muffin pan or cups, fill 1/2 full. Let rise until dough reaches tops of cups, 20-30 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until done. Brush tops of buns with butter while still warm. |
