WAIKIKI MEATBALLS 
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1/3 c. minced onion
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. milk
2/3 c. cracker crumbs
1 egg
1/4 tsp. ginger

Form into small meatballs, melt 1 tablespoon shortening in skillet; brown and cook meatballs. Pour off excess fat. Mix together in a small bowl 2 tablespoons cornstarch, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 (13 1/2 oz.) can syrup from pineapple tidbits, 1/3 cup vinegar, 1 tablespoon soy sauce. Pour mixture over meatballs. Heat until thickened. Add pineapple tidbits. Add 1/3 cup chopped green peppers and 1/3 cup shredded carrots. Heat through. Serve with rice.
