CANDY CANE CHRISTMAS COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt

TOPPING:

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. crushed peppermint candy
1/2 tsp. red food coloring

Mix first 8 ingredients together; divide in half. Color 1/2 red. Roll 1 teaspoon of each color in a long roll, twist around each other and shape like a candy cane. Bake at 375 degrees for 9 minutes. Mix topping ingredients. Cover with mix and cool.
