TOMATO-MEAT SAUCE (Microwave)
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 med. (1 1/2 c.) chopped onion
2 tsp. minced garlic
2 cans (15 oz. each) tomato sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. oregano leaves
1/4 tsp. ground pepper
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper

Crumble ground beef into a microwave-safe colander set in a deep 2 quart casserole. Add onion and garlic; cover loosely with waxed paper. Microwave on high 3 minutes; stir to break up meat. Cover and microwave 2 to 3 minutes longer until meat is no longer pink and onion is translucent.

Discard drippings and put meat mixture in same casserole; stir in remaining ingredients. Cover with waxed paper. Microwave on high 5 to 6 minutes until sauce is hot, stirring once. Makes about 6 cups.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
