TWO-EGG SPONGE CAKE 
2 eggs, separated
2/3 c. water
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Drop of lemon

Put egg yolks into a bowl with the water and beat until there is about a quart of the mixture. Add the sugar gradually and beat 7 minutes with egg beater. Sift flour and baking powder and add to the mixture. Add vanilla and lemon and fold in the egg whites (not too stiffly beaten).
