Good recipe but not truly Russian. I lived there from 1993 until 2009 and not until around 2005 could I find brown sugar and then it was so very expensive that only the very rich could afford it! I couldn't - every time I came back to the states or if friends visited I would have them bring me brown sugar. Not any of my Russian friends baked anything with brown sugar!
