3 c. sugar
3 c. plain flour
5 eggs
1 c. milk
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. lemon extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Cream shortening; add 1 cup sugar at a time; beating well. Add one egg at a time, beating well. Alternate flour with milk, also beating well, and add flavorings. Start baking in a cold oven. Set at 300 degrees. DO NOT PREHEAT OVEN. Bake for about 1 1/2 hours. DO NOT open oven for 1 1/4 hours or cake will fall or have sad streaks.
