4 lbs. lean pork, ground 1 1/2 c. water 1 c. minced onion 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. allspice 1/4 tsp. ground cloves 1 tbsp. salt 2 c. dry bread crumbs Cook all ingredients except bread crumbs for 30 minutes. Add dry bread crumbs and cool. Fill 2 (9-inch) unbaked pie shells with the mixture. Cover with top crust and seal edges of pastry. Bake at 425 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until crust is slightly browned. Pies have better flavor if chilled or frozen for at least 48 hours. To reheat: If frozen, heat at 350 degrees until serving temperature; if just chilled, 300 degrees until serving temperature. |
