WALNUT SQUARES 
1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
2 c. all purpose flour

Combine the butter, sugar and flour using the fingers to make a crumbly mixture. Place this mixture onto a flat pan and pat it into a layer over the bottom of the pan. (Use a cookie sheet.) Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

4 eggs, beaten
1/4 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. brown sugar
3 c. coconut
2 c. walnuts
1 tsp. salt

Combine all the ingredients and stir thoroughly. Spread the mixture over the bottom layer. Bake at 350 degrees until browned, 30 to 35 minutes. Cool and cut into squares or bars. Yield: 6 1/2 dozen 1 1/2" squares.
