DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. water
2 1/4 c. sifted flour
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. softened butter
3 eggs

Combine in saucepan chocolate and 1/4 cup water, stir over low heat until melted and smooth. Remove, sift together flour, baking soda and salt; set aside. Combine in bowl the sugar, butter and vanilla, beat until well blended. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each. Blend in melted chocolate mixture. Stir in flour mixture alternately with 1 cup of water. Pour into 3 greased and floured 9 inch layer cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.

FROSTING FOR DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE:

1/4 c. milk
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1/4 tsp. salt
3 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
3 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
