SISTER CELESTE'S IRISH SODA
BREAD
 
3 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 lb. butter
3/4 c. buttermilk, at least
Raisins & caraway seeds to your liking

Combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut in the butter and rub the butter mixture between your fingers until the mixture becomes like cornmeal. Add seeds and (or) raisins.

Make a well in the center of the mixture. Into the well, pour 3/4 cup of buttermilk. Work this with your hands until mixed and moistened, add more buttermilk if necessary. Put in 1 large or 2 regular sized loaf pans. Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 50 minutes.
