ICE BOX COOKIES 
1 lb. butter (lard is best)
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt
2 tsp. baking soda in a little warm water
1/2 c. almonds or walnuts
1 tsp. lemon flavoring (optional)
5 c. flour

Mix and let stand in refrigerator overnight (I make it into 3 rolls before I refrigerate them). Slice and bake until lightly brown at 350 degrees.

Make filled cookies if wanted by putting filling between 2 slices of dough.

FILLING:

3 c. ground raisins or dates
1/2 c. water
1 1/2 tbsp. flour
1 c. water
1 tsp. lemon juice
