POPCORN BALLS | |
3 qt. freshly popped corn 1 c. Karo light corn syrup 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Place popcorn in large greased pan. Place in 250 degree oven. In heavy 2-quart saucepan, stir together corn syrup and sugar. Stirring constantly, bring to boil over medium heat. Without stirring, cook until temperature reaches 290 degrees on candy thermometer, about 10 minutes, or until small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water separates into threads which are hard but not brittle. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Slowly pour over popcorn, stirring well. Cool just enough to handle. With greased hands, quickly shape into balls. Makes 8. |
