HARD TACK CANDY 
2 c. white sugar
1 c. water
3/4 c. white Karo
Food coloring

Combine the ingredients in pan and use candy thermometer and bring to hard crack. Remove from heat and add 1/2 teaspoon flavoring oil and beat for a couple seconds. Pour out onto marble slab (or Formica table) which has been well buttered. Work with butter putty knifes. Make several small piles. Form piles into long like rope. Cut with scissors (which has been buttered). Roll in powdered sugar and place in covered bowl.

Flavorings: Red-cinnamon; Green-wintergreen; Brown-clove; Lt. Green-spearmint; Dark Blue-Anise; Yellow-lemon; Orange-orange; Pink-Peppermint.
