Mix in order given:

1 egg beaten in 1 c. sugar
2 heaping tbsp. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
Pinch salt
2 med. apples, peeled and cut in pieces
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Bake in 8x8 inch pan at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour. Serve with whipped cream, ice cream, or vanilla sauce.

VANILLA SAUCE:

1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
Pinch salt, optional
1 c. water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. butter

Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt. Add water and butter. Stir while cooking until thick and clear. Add vanilla.

Also good on apple turnovers, fruit cake, plum pudding, etc.
