HANA MACADAMIA DATE PIE 
1 1/4 c. chopped dates
2/3 c. dark brown sugar
5 eggs
4 tbsp. softened butter
8 oz. jar macadamia nuts, chopped in halves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 tbsp. cream
1 egg yolk
1 unbaked pie shell

Place dates in a bowl and cover with 1 cup of boiling water. Let stand until warm.

Make a glaze of the cream and egg yolk and brush on pie shell. Chill shell for 1/2 hour.

Mix all ingredients except dates and nuts with electric mixer. Fold in dates and nuts. Pour mixture into chilled pie shell and bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees or until set. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream. Lyle uses a 10 inch quiche or white corningware pan. Serves: 10 to 12.
