FRUIT CAKE 
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground mace
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 1/2 c. red glazed cherries
1/2 c. diced candied citron
1 1/3 c. seedless raisins
1 3/4 c. coarsely chopped pecans
1 1/4 c. chopped pitted dates
1 c. butter
5 eggs
1/4 c. dark molasses
1/4 c. brandy

Sift together 1 cup of the flour with baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, mace and nutmeg. In mixing bowl, mix the remaining 1 cup flour with the cherries citron, raisins, dates, and pecans. Use fingers to separate pieces of fruit.

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar, thoroughly beat in eggs one at a time. Beat in molasses and brandy. Add sifted flour mixture and stir until blended. Add fruit and nuts, flour mixture and mix well. Bake in tube pan, greased and lined with foil, grease foil. Bake in preheated oven at 300 degrees for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
