This dish was developed by the Cornish miners and was brought to the California Gold Rush by the miners. It was developed so that the miners could take a complete meal in one easy-to-transport container.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Line bottom of pie tin with layer of pie crust. Cover with a layer of cubed round steak. Next cover the meat with a layer of cubed potatoes. Lastly, cover with a layer of cubed white onions.
Sprinkle with parsley and add butter bits (2 tablespoons). Cover with the top crust, making a couple of slits to allow the steam to vent. Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes. Allow to cool for 30 minutes before serving. Delicious hot or cold!
